Barbara Voss – Barbara has worked as a Director of Business Planning, and as a senior business analyst consultant in a variety of industries. She also has worked with clients at non-profits as a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, and also as a Psychology and Humanities graduate student advisor at Prescott College. She has taught numerous workshops on preventing burnout, and written Come Back to Your Senses: From Burnout to Sustainable Self-Care, her book on 52 simple ways to take care of yourself. She has an MA in the History of Science and Medicine, as well as an MA in Psychology. She enjoys painting, and has had her watercolors, sumi-e, and photography in local art shows. She loves doing her qigong practice during her walks in Nature with her dogs and husband. She is in the current YiRen Qigong teacher training cohort. Barbara is very grateful for this opportunity to serve and contribute to the IQ&IM mission.
Lauri Amidon – Lauri is board vice president of the Institute of Qigong and Integrative Medicine and a certified Yi Ren Qigong instructor at IQ&IM’s Center in Bothell, WA. Lauri has served on the Board as a director and President. She also serves as an assistant to Dr. Sun in seminars and mentors in the Teacher Certification Training Program. She has been studying with Dr. Guan-Cheng Sun, the founder of Yi Ren Qigong and IQ&IM for 10 years. She has also been involved with several research studies looking at the effects of Yi Ren Medical Qigong in chronic health conditions, including chronic back pain and type 2 diabetes. In addition to Qigong, Lauri has an extensive background in dance, yoga, pilates and herbal medicine.
Jackie Close – Jacqueline Close, MTCM, EAMP has been a Yi Ren Qi Gong student since 2012. As an acupuncturist and herbalist she has found that studying and practicing Yi Ren Qi Gong has given her a much deeper and more practical understanding of Chinese medicine. She has personally experienced the benefits of Qi Gong and believes it can have an extremely positive impact on health.
Jackie has been in private practice in Seattle since 2002. She hopes to bring her knowledge of owning and operating a successful Chinese medical clinic to the organization.
Kathryn Hamilton-Cook. M.A, has over twenty five years’ experience in program and team management, writing, teaching, and wellness facilitation in private practice. She began her Yi Ren Qigong practice in 2012, and understands the benefits of wellness practice in fostering personal and community healing and growth. She is dedicated to helping the IQ&IM and fellow practitioners achieve their goals in transformation, community involvement, and education.
Formerly from the UK with degrees in Archaeological Sciences and Public Administration, she has lived in the US for 20 years.
She is interested in making self-cultivation and internal freedom a reality for all.
Guan-Cheng Sun, PhD is the founder and executive director of the Institute of Qigong & Integrative Medicine (IQ&IM). Dr. Sun earned his Ph.D. in molecular genetics from the Graduate University for Advanced Studies in Japan in 1993, and was awarded a fellowship from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
Dr. Sun has spent over 30 years cultivating his internal Qi and refining his skills in Qi management and has developed a new system of Qigong called “Yi Ren Qigong.” He is currently engaged in Qigong education at IQ&IM and Integrative Medicine research at Bastyr University, Kenmore, Washington.
