Being with Change | The Tao Te Ching & The Book of Changes
Exploring the Classic Teachings of the Tao Te Ching and The Book of Changes
INSTRUCTOR: William Spear
The philosophy behind the Tao Te Ching is very simple: Accept what is right in front of you without wanting things to be different. The essence of Lao Tsu’s prose reminds us that a healthy relationship with the natural world and the order of the universe is one in which we learn to work with nature and not against it.
The magic when consulting the Book of Changes, the Yi Jing, is rooted in our appreciation for the opportunity to access the highest wisdom of the sage that lies within each of us. When presented through divination, the judgment and images require clear and precise interpretation — a constant study for both the beginner and experienced student.
This series, taken as a whole, explores the historical context of these two classics and the essence of what the texts communicate, namely that each of us has free will to adapt to the dynamic forces of change around us through an understanding of relative and universal truths. Participants will leave empowered to further cultivate a deep, meaningful relationship with these timeless treasures.
